Osteopath

Dr. Christopher Thompson is a dedicated Osteopath practicing at Nicholson Health and Wellness, with over 16 years of experience helping patients move better, recover from injury, and achieve long-term musculoskeletal health.

Chris graduated from RMIT University in 2010 after completing a three-year Bachelor degree followed by a two-year Masters Research Project in Osteopathy. From early in his career, he developed a strong interest in sporting injuries, postural strain, and general health management—an interest shaped by his lifelong involvement in sport.

After completing his Master’s degree, Chris worked in sports medicine where he treated a wide range of patients, including athletes, children, and older adults. To further expand his knowledge in this field, he completed additional study in deep tissue massage and qualified as a sports trainer. These skills enabled him to work closely with a number of sports clubs throughout Melbourne’s northern suburbs, and he continues to collaborate with personal trainers across several local gyms.

Alongside his clinical practice, Chris has spent over 13 years working as a Senior Injury Management Advisor for various companies and insurance providers, offering specialist guidance on injury recovery and rehabilitation. In December 2023, he further expanded his expertise by completing a Master’s degree in Health Mental.

Chris uses a wide range of osteopathic techniques tailored to each patient’s individual presentation and needs. These may include:

  • High Velocity Low Amplitude (HVLA) techniques
  • Muscle Energy Techniques (MET)
  • General articulatory techniques
  • Soft tissue massage
  • Stretching
  • Counterstrain techniques
  • Gentle balancing techniques
To complement his osteopathic approach, Chris has also completed additional training in Dry Needling, providing an effective treatment option for both acute and chronic pain.
